Dulquer Salmaan wants to give everyone a share of the profits

Desk Report:

Dulquer Salmaan is a popular actor in the Malayalam industry. He has also acted in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language films. Along with acting, Dulquer is also successful as a producer. His company Wayfarer Films has produced six films, and the company is also involved in the presentation of more than 20 films.

Dulquer Salmaan‘s latest film ‘Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra’ has created a new record in the Malayalam industry. The film, directed by Dominic Arun, was released on August 28. There was a huge crowd in the theaters from the first day to watch this superhero fantasy story. The income crossed the hundred crore rupees mark in the first week. In just 21 days, Lokah has earned more than 261 crore rupees worldwide.

Dulquer Salmaan has taken a big decision about production on the back of this success. Usually, if a film does well, the producer takes the entire share of the profit. Sometimes, the stars also share. If the movie is successful, they also benefit. But the other people who work in the movie, from the director to the scriptwriter, cameraman, lightman or makeup, art and other department workers are neglected. Everyone works tirelessly to make a good movie. However, if the movie does well, they do not get any extra benefits.

Dulquer Salmaan wants to change this rule. He has announced that he will share the profits from Lokah with the crew. In a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter India, he said, “I always wanted this to happen. When a movie does very well, the producer should reward everyone involved in it. I consider the head of every department in Lokah as a partner. As a result, everyone, starting from director Dominic Arun, shares the profits. If we can do this, everyone will consider the work their own. That will make a better movie.”

The movie Lokah is based on a folk tale from Kerala. The story of the bloodthirsty Yakshini Kaliyankattu Neeli has been connected to the present day. The organ trafficking ring has been exposed through supernatural elements. Some other contemporary problems have come up in this story. Overall, the movie Lokah, shrouded in mystery, has become the center of interest of the audience.

Kalyani Priyadarshan emerged as the first female superhero in Indian cinema with Lokah. She also achieved sky-high success. This is the first female-led movie in the Malayalam industry, which earned more than 200 crores. Lokah is now the second highest-grossing movie in the industry. Mohanlal-starrer ‘L to Mpuran’ is in the first position with a gross of 265 crores.
